Kentucky High School Tour

Student research teams examine the teeth, hooves, method of digestion, and skin covering of five animals--steer, goat, sheep, alpaca, and horse.  They make observations and record the results of their observations in order to construct a cladogram, a graphic picture of the family tree of different species descended from a common ancestor. Like actual scientists, they subject their team cladograms to peer review--evaluation by fellow scientists.
