Evolution Garden

 

     Millions of years ago, during the Carboniferous Period, ferns grew to be hundreds of feet tall. Their decay formed the great coalfields that modern humans depend on for fossil fuels.   Today ferns are not nearly as tall, but there are a great variety of smaller ferns.
